seasonal marketing
Back in the day, people would simply visit a local shopping mall to browse storefronts in person, looking for the best deals available while they last. But in today’s age of mobile technology, social media, and online shopping, digital marketing has rapidly become the primary mode of engagement to spread the word about seasonal offerings. This means that in order for emerging brands to remain competitive during the hectic holidays, it’s critical to develop a digital marketing strategy that stands apart from other brands. Using these digital marketing tips for the holidays can help you compete in the online market this year. Tips for keeping your small business marketing organized during the holiday season With so much going on over the holidays, creating an effective marketing campaign is sometimes easier said than done. Luckily, it’s fairly easy to put your digital marketing efforts into perspective by following a few simple
Just as fall is my favorite season, October is my favorite month. I love October. Not just because I get to over-decorate the house, play dress-up as an adult, and buy way too much candy without judgment. Nor do I love it because of National Pumpkin Spice Day (Oct. 1st) or National Cinnamon Roll Day (Oct. 4th) — although those are both good reasons to love October. I love it because the first snows fall and then melt away, because of Indian Summer days and cold nights with breezes that nip at your nose, and because everyone is getting ready to hunker down for winter. I love October because here in the Northern Hemisphere, it is nature’s last hurrah before winter sets in. So, when you start working on your marketing for October, think about how this time of year makes you feel and how you can help your readers
It happened just last night. The crickets changed their song. You know what I’m talking about; that ever-so-subtle shift in nature that says, “Yes, it’s hot right now, but autumn is coming… soon.” This, of course, makes me start thinking about the many things on my “to-do” list that I haven’t gotten done yet. Of course, there are the “must-dos” such as resealing the deck and taking the snowblower in for maintenance. But fall makes me think more about the stuff I’d like to do, or that I’ve been meaning to do. I mean, it’s Sourdough September; I should really get my starter going, so I can bake my own bread this winter. And while I’m thinking about things I haven’t managed to get done, I should probably get to work on making those candles I’ve been meaning to create since last year. After all, it is World Candle Month.
Your customers are telling you a lot about how you should communicate with them just by when and how they buy. When do you reach out to your customers? During special promotions and sales, of course, or maybe around holidays or events in your community. These sorts of moments are easy to predict and schedule. But what about when your customer buys from you– or doesn’t? Let’s take a look at three types of customers whose buying moments (or non-buying moments) can kick off compelling, considerate communications. First-time buyers can give you a fresh perspective That first time you get someone in the door (whether virtual or physical) is a big deal. Recognize it as one! Reaching out to first-time buyers can provide a timely touchpoint and bolster your brand. And it’s a great way for you to see your business through their eyes — a fresh, new point
Now that we’re in the Dog Days of Summer (July 3rd – August 11th), temperatures are rising and tempers often rise as well. It seems like everyone gets a little irritable during the hottest days of the summer. That’s why I think of August as the month to take care — take care of myself, my family, and my community. August is American Adventures Month so if you’re into adventure, this is a great time to take care of yourself by getting out there and trying something new. If you prefer something more mellow, and indoors, it’s also American Artist Appreciation Month, so think about taking some time to visit a local art gallery and take care of yourself while supporting, and caring for, your community. Personally, I like to start the month by organizing something simple on each day of National Simplify Your Life Week (August 1st-7th). It could
If you live in the USA, the 4th of July is Independence Day. If you haven’t already, it’s time to fire up the barbeque grill and invite the neighbors over to celebrate. But, before you do that, be sure to send out your 4th of July email campaign. With 4th of July spending traditionally ranging from roughly six to seven billion dollars on food alone, you’ll want to celebrate with your customers with a special 4th of July promotion. But what if you don’t sell food, fireworks, or red, white, and blue things? That’s okay! You can still celebrate with your customers by offering special promotions or discounts, or even just by sending them a holiday greeting that wishes them a happy 4th and keeps your business top of mind. The voice and content of your 4th of July email campaign depend upon your business, your brand, and your customers.…
July! Woohoo!!! Just thinking about July makes me want to dance around in a sprinkler. It’s that perfect time of year where the days are hot enough to enjoy a run in the sprinkler or a dip in the pool but not so hot we can’t stand the heat. July is the height of barbeque season when we all see how many things we can “grill” or chill. Now, I don’t know if it’s because our Independence Day (July 4th) is celebrated this month, or if that’s a happy accident, but here in the U.S., July is always chock-full of picnics, garden parties, community cookouts, and fireworks. It’s all about food, family, friends, and fun! Did I mention that July is National Picnic Month and National Grilling Month? So, dust off that convertible for Drive Your Corvette to Work Day (July 1st), make plans to fix up that dog house,…
For years I’ve gotten a pedicure on June 1st. Where I grew up, June 1st was the first day that it really felt warm enough to start wearing sandals. So, for me, getting a pedicure on this day has always been a celebration. A way for me to acknowledge and appreciate the warm weather — and the change of footwear. Come to find out, I’m not the only one who thinks June 1st is the perfect day for baring toes. It’s National Go Barefoot Day (June 1st)! And while getting a pedicure is the first thing that comes to my mind when I think of June, there are so many beautiful things to celebrate in June that it takes a whole month to do it! That’s why I’ve compiled this HUGE list of June holidays and newsletter ideas. I’ve even thrown in some June subject line ideas for good measure!…
I am Batman! Okay, not really, but May 1st is Batman Day. While not an official May holiday, Batman Day is just one of many fun and zany reasons to celebrate this month. With holidays like Intergalactic Star Wars Day (May 4th), Eat What You Want Day (May 11th), and Frog Jumping Day (May 13th) there’s no reason to feel jumpy about your marketing this month. May has a plethora of occasions to share with your customers — from public holidays like International Workers’ Day (May 1st), VE Day (May 8th), and Memorial Day (May 30th) to “weird” holidays like National Cellophane Tape Day (the 27th). Yep, that’s a thing. Seriously though, May is definitely a month to celebrate. From May Day (May 1st) to National Smile Day (May 31st), May is a month about… well, creation, fresh starts, and new beginnings. The transition from dark to light, from winter…
I have to admit that April holds a special place in my heart. Despite the fact that the first day of spring falls in March, where I grew up, it wasn’t spring until April — when the crocus and daffodils started to bloom. With the first bright colors poking through late snows and sounds of birds returning, for me, April has always been filled with promise and new beginnings. And, despite it being April Fool’s Day, one of the best decisions I ever made happened on April 1st — it was the day I joined Constant Contact. Which by the way, happens to be International Fun at Work Day as well. Coincidence? I don’t think so. But enough about me. Let’s talk about some April holidays and newsletter ideas to add some joy to your email marketing this month. April holidays — 2022 While April Fool’s Day might not be…
