A honeypot is a security mechanism that creates a virtual trap to lure attackers.
An intentionally compromised computer system allows attackers to exploit vulnerabilities so you can study them to improve your security policies.
Email Honeypots (Spam Traps): Inactive email addresses set up specifically to catch spammers. These emails are not used by real people and therefore never opted-in to any email campaigns. So if a sender tries to send to these addresses, they will be flagged.
