The text that appears in place of an image before it’s downloaded in the inbox, or if the user has images turned off. While adding alt text to your image file is not required, it is a best practice to do so because it is the text that visually impaired people will read instead of seeing the image. For this reason, the alt text should simply describe what the image is.
